Holiday Homes

In 2006 we purchased and opened three holiday homes which are situated at Cragside caravan park, Eastgate near Stanhope in Weardale, which is a place of outstanding beauty with lovely countryside surroundings, running rivers and waterfalls onsite. This is where cancer patients, the terminally ill and their families can go to for respite care completely free of charge. If help is ever needed we have very friendly wardens onsite who are always willing to assist you as best as they can.

All of our holiday homes  are well equipped with everything you generally need, from cleaning materials to toiletries, satellite TV along with board games to play, books to read and even films to watch.

One of our holiday homes has been converted to meet the needs as best as possible for those who are severely disabled by using our hoist facilities, specialised wet room and equipment for bathing as well as tempur mattresses to relieve pressure and avoid bed sores.

Each caravan has its own decking area with outdoor table and chairs where you can sit and soak in the beautiful scenery and atmosphere. There is also a country pub/hotel called the Cross Keys within a few minutes’ walking distance from the site which has wheelchair access, a silver service restaurant attached and a beer garden at the rear with a running river view and access for parking if needed.

Stanhope Town Centre

The Town Centre of Stanhope comprises small shops, a local baker’s/tea room, pubs, its own outdoor swimming pool, a walk by the river and a play area for children. It also has its very own Dales centre with craft shops, a restaurant and information centre which is all wheelchair accessible.
If you do wish to visit Stanhope there is a wheelchair accessible bus that will stop outside the caravan site and also just past the Cross Keys pub at limited times only. Alternatively if you care to drive there are plenty of parking spaces around the area.
There are also many other interesting places to visit and beautiful walks to go on; it really is just a wonderful place of retreat.

If anyone outside of Emmanuel House would like to make arrangements to visit and use our holiday homes for a holiday or a weekend break you will need to be referred to us by your local Macmillan nurse, doctor or other member of the medical profession.
